Please read the new, Updated, Official, "U.S. Army Counterinsurgency Handbook" written by Lt. Generals David H. Petraeus U.S. Army and James F. Amos USMC(Skyhorse Publishing, 2007). You will see why, apparently, Petreus was really selected and given his present assignment by Bush. You will also see that his "Report" on the status/effectiveness of the "surge" in Iraq and where to go from here, expected soon this month, was really already written a long time ago.

It is time to strip away some of the mythology and outright sycophancy vis-a-vis military service in the U.S. imperial war machine. Yes, some heroic actions are undertaken and sacrifices made by U.S. forces despite the often ugly intentions of those who sent them into battle, but the U.S. military is also full of psychopaths, sociopaths, glory boys, morons, racists, proto-fascists, and other forms/types of pathological personalities who often thrive in a military environment. What kind real veteran, with an IQ over 60, could stand or cheer, for one minute, the likes of Chickenhawks Bush and Cheney in faux military gear or talking tough to the VFW? Bush in military gear is like a pedophile priest in elegant flowing robes.

"Chutzpah" used to be defined as "Killing one's parents and then pleading mercy of the court on the grounds that one is now an orphan." The new definition of "Chutzpah" is Chickenhawk and Deserter-During-Wartime Bush and Chickenhawk Cheney speaking to a VFW audience--and, speaking on the need for "Staying the Course" in Iraq as "WE" should have "stayed the course" in the Vietnam War they both worked so hard to avoid. What is also disgusting is all those patently stupid and backward VFW types (the older they get the bigger "heroes" they used to be) actually sitting and listening to the lies and rationalizations of failure of both of them and even applauding.

It is so amazing how nothing more than a macho-full-of-onseself swagger, wearing some faux military gear, a few Tom-Clancy-ish technobabble words and sense of absolutely certainty, can be passed-off as "national security" credentials and expertise among many of the American electorate. As Marx (Groucho) said: "The two keys to success are honesty and sincerity; and if you can fake those, the sky's the limit."
