Hillary’s Favorite Fallacies

Abstract. Any student of logic has to be astonished that the five most important arguments being advanced on behalf of Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination are fallacious. Some of them, such as that, since she prevailed over Obama in certain large states, such as Pennsylvania, Obama would be unable to win those states in the general election, are even being featured on the front page of The New York Times. But that Obama lost to Hillary in the primary does not mean he would lose to John McCain in the general election. The best reasons for Hillary could not pass scrutiny in a freshman course on critical thinking.

9/11 and the Neo-Con Agenda

Abstract. During a “Freedom Rally” in recognition of Ron Paul, (R-TX) and in opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth explained why the anti-war movement and the 9/11 truth movement should be more closely linked, since exposing the truth about 9/11 destroys the justification for those wars.

Internet Censorship: The Bizarre Case of the Daily Kos

Abstract. Given corporation dominance of the media and its multiple sources of bias, dependence upon the internet for less subjective, if not completely objective, information has become important to those who want to discover truths about domestic politics and foreign affairs. Some of our most popular internet sources, however, can display bias of their own. I offer as an example my experience with the Daily Kos, a site that we would all expect to be “fair and balanced”. The abuse to which I was subjected was not only corrupt but actually self-defeating, if the aim is discovering truth rather than, say, misleading the public.

Bush vendettas: Clearing the way to attack Iran?

Abstract. The outing of Eliot Spitzer might exemplify the pattern of outing Valerie Plame and deposing Admiral Fallon if there were a precipitating cause, as in these other instances. Although we have been told that Spiter’s transgressions were discovered as the result of a “routine tax inquiry”, an article he authored – which appeared in The Washington Post a month earlier – hints otherwise. There appears to be a pattern here, where the Fallon case may be the most serious.

What's Wrong with Rev. Wright?

Abstract. Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, gave a sermon at the school's Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel in Washington on January 15, 2006. It is now being used to drive a wedge between Obama and his followers. Most of his black supporters believe what Wright has had to say, but many of his white supporters do not. The political trap thereby laid can be avoided by separating content from style and standing up for painful truths. Handled properly, this can be an object lesson in Obama's “new politics”.

Hillary's Perfidy

Do you know that Hillary Clinton has yet to release her tax returns or that John McCain has yet to release his medical records? If the American press wants to serve the interests of the American people by promoting democracy in America – a novel idea in this day and age! – then surely its representatives ought to be pursuing these questions, which reflect on the character and integrity of two leading candidates for the highest office in this land. They are both experienced politicians and should know better than to conceal information to which the American people are entitled. That they have not done so at this late stage speaks volumes about their commitments to truth and transparency in government.
