When Fascism Comes to America...

The Reviews are in: America Loves Palin?

It looks like the book banning little fascist from Alaska is wildly popular with the masses.

According to Rasmussen, Americans currently have a more favorable than unfavorable view of Sarah Palin. In fact, Yahoo News is reporting that Palin is currently more popular than either McCain or Obama if Rasmussen is to be believed:

The Republicans and 9/11

Since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, we have been inundated with warnings from republicans that if we elect democrats we will be putting our nation at great peril from further terrorist attacks. According to them only republicans can keep us safe. But there is something that is constantly missing from these warnings. We DID have republicans in charge everywhere it mattered on that fateful day.

Bill Clinton said what?

The headline: "Bill Clinton Praises McCain on Energy Policy"

The actual story:

Democrats Reject U.S. Constitution

One thing we have come to learn about this Congress is that they talk the talk and then walk as they demonstrated again on FISA. There was the usual talk about not giving in to Bush then total capitulation along with the usual groveling. Unfortunately, our supposed nominee for the presidency has gone back on his promise and joined the grovelers.

Can You Believe This?

The lame duck had a press conference today with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. Here is a transcript. I didn't read the whole thing. In fact I only made it a couple of paragraphs before a real jaw dropping moment. Here is the quote:

What is a "Typical" White Person?

I know a lot of white people and would be very hard pressed to define what a "typical" white person is like. What if Hillary had said something like, "Isn't that so typical of black people to make a statement like that" do you think all hell would have broken loose? Of course it would have. Is the media giving Obama a free pass when it comes to making racially insensitive statements?

Clinton Voters in Texas More Likely to Support Down Ballot Candidates

One of the most consistent arguments being made to support Obama as the 2008 nominee for president is that he brings many first time voters who will also support other democratic candidates on the ballot. Apparently that is not true in Texas at least. From dallasnews.com:

Gonzo gone, what now?

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales finally announced his resignation  today after meeting with the president at his ranch in Crawford Texas. This time there was no "spend time with family" excuse given. The reasons for his departure were obvious to everyone except the president. This was his reaction:

New York Times: Impeach Gonzales

In an Op-Ed published today the New York Times is calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in the likely event that the Justice Dept. refuses a Congressional request to assign a special prosecutor to the case. From the Times story:

The Future's So Bright...

With the Yearly Kos convention around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to take a look at where we are and how far we have come. The last two presidential elections were quite a shock to me. Having lived in Texas under Governor Bush I didn't think it was possible that he could beat Al Gore in any election and of course many of us still believe he didn't. I thought initially it would be a cake walk for Gore.

FBI Director Contradicts Gonzo Testimony

FBI Director Robert Mueller contradicted Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in testimony before the House Judiciary committee. From the AP story:
