Bush Claims More Power Than King George III And Congress Still Cows In Fear

What is wrong with the Congress of the United States? Are they asleep at the wheel, or are they cowards, afraid to fulfill their duty to the American people? It's about time for the people of the United States to demand answers! The news and Internet is filled with stories that demonstrate, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that President Bush has committed high crimes and possibly treason, yet Congress remains silent, apparently cowed into submission by a Presidency that for all practical purposes, is now a full-blown dictatorship and is flaunting our laws, trampling upon the constitution, and is publicly defying every rule of law - and Congress is still mute, refusing to do anything to stop Bush and Cheney's deliberate goose-stepping the country into another war in the Middle-East.

Where is the N.Y Times Op-Ed's that two US Senators were supposed to write in opposition to Bush's plans to attack Iran? Were they silenced or threatened? Were they served with a "signing letter?" How is it possible that the Asia Times warns the people of the United States that Bush is planning on attacking Iran within the next two months, and Congress is silent, as well as every mainstream news media outlet in America??? Read the story, we all know it's true, the whole damn world knows it's true, but Congress and the MSM are still silent on an issue that affects every citizen of the United States!

Bush 'plans Iran air strike by August'

By Muhammad Cohen

NEW YORK - The George W Bush administration plans to launch an air strike against Iran within the next two months, an informed source tells Asia Times Online, echoing other reports that have surfaced in the media in the United States recently.

Two key US senators briefed on the attack planned to go public with their opposition to the move, according to the source, but their projected New York Times op-ed piece has yet to appear. (Emphasis added.)

The source, a retired US career diplomat and former assistant secretary of state still active in the foreign affairs community, speaking anonymously, said last week that the US plans an air strike against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). The air strike would target the headquarters of the IRGC's elite Quds force. With an estimated strength of up to 90,000 fighters, the Quds' stated mission is to spread Iran's revolution of 1979 throughout the region. MUCH MORE

We know that the Senate is aware of these plans, and even though its been a holiday weekend is no excuse for the public to learn of these plans from a foreign news source rather than through our own government channels or a news conference - or is it too much to ask Congress to do their damn jobs? Maybe it's just be me, but it seems as if though the US Congress is now no more effective than Russia's "Politburo" or China's "National People's Congress" which are nothing more than paid yes-men that rubber-stamp whatever either authoritarian government chooses - which seems to be the role of America's cowardly Congress, all talk and no action! The Asia Times even named the Senators that were supposed to alert the public, but I guess they ate and drank too much during the holidays to put country ahead of their personal interests, typical for a do-nothing body of individuals that have a lower approval rating than the worst President in US history!

Details provided by the administration raised alarm bells on Capitol Hill, the source said. After receiving secret briefings on the planned air strike, Senator Diane Feinstein, Democrat of California, and Senator Richard Lugar, Republican of Indiana, said they would write a New York Times op-ed piece "within days", the source said last week, to express their opposition. Feinstein is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and Lugar is the ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee. LINK

When we hear of the rank cowardice and malfeasance of our own Congress, it begins to make sense why they would vote 404 in favor of HR 1955, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007; they would rather allow the Executive Branch to silence their critics and label us as "terrorists" rather than allow the free speech of the Internet to point out they are worthless to the people and only serve to grovel at the President's feet and lap-up the billions of lobbying dollars that keep themselves in office rather then fight for democracy and freedom. Don't forget that it was Representative Jane Harman, a so-called Democrat that sponsored this Bill, which has been labeled as the most egregious assault against the Constitution in recent memory! Their intent is obvious; the MSM won't alert the public that they refuse to do anything other than talk, and now they are attempting to silence free speech on the Internet! Joe Loserman made it clear when he attempted to convince Google to take-down videos he didn't approve of on You-Tube, but thankfully, Google stood-up for our rights to free speech, demonstrating the courage our own Congress lost when Bush was placed in the White House! LINK

To make matters worse, it appears as if Congress is mimicking George Bush and they quit reading! How else can we explain their refusal to impeach Bush and Cheney when constitutional scholars constantly point-out the illegal powers that Bush is granting himself without any real opposition or action from our lawmakers?

Bush Claims More Powers Than King George III

Bush Claims More Powers Than King George III,
Constitutional Scholar David Adler Contends

The Bush administration has arrogated powers to itself that the British people even refused to grant King George III at the time of the Revolutionary War, an eminent political scientist says.

“No executive in the history of the Anglo-American world since the Civil War in England in the 17th century has laid claim to such broad power,” said David Adler, a prolific author of articles on the U.S. Constitution. “George Bush has exceeded the claims of Oliver Cromwell who anointed himself Lord Protector of England.” (Emphasis added.)

King George The Turd!

Adler, a professor of political science at Idaho State University at Pocatello, is the author of “The Constitution and the Termination of Treaties”(Taylor & Francis), among other books, and some 100 scholarly articles in his field. Adler made his comments comparing the powers of President Bush and King George III at a conference on “Presidential Power in America” at the Massachusetts School of Law, Andover, April 26th.

Adler said, Bush has “claimed the authority to suspend the Geneva Convention, to terminate treaties, to seize American citizens from the streets to detain them indefinitely without benefit of legal counseling, without benefit of judicial review. He has ordered a domestic surveillance program which violates the statutory law of the United States as well as the Fourth Amendment.”

Adler said the authors of the U.S. Constitution wrote that the president “shall take care to faithfully execute the laws of the land” because “the king of England possessed a suspending power” to set aside laws with which he disagreed, “the very same kind of power that the Bush Administration has claimed.”

“In these last eight years,” Adler said, “we have seen presidential powers soar beyond the confines of the Constitution. We have understood that his presidency bears no resemblance to the Office created by the Framers… This is the time for us to demand a return to the constitutional presidency. If we don’t, we will have only ourselves to blame as we go marching into the next war as we witness even greater claims of presidential power.”MORE

In case this essay doesn't make any alarms go off at our Congress, there are several more they could read - however, when you remember that only one or two members of Congress bothered to read the "Patriot Act" before signing it into law, I suppose we can expect them to ignore all of these important articles and essays on constitutional law:

Conservative Scholars Argue Bush’s Wiretapping Is An Impeachable Offense

Bush's impeachable offense

Constitutional scholar: ‘At least six identifiable crimes’ possible in CIA tape affair

Scholar says Bush has used obscure doctrine to extend power 95 times

I don't think it's too much to ask our Congress to uphold our laws and the Constitution of the United States. If you agree, and you want to keep food on your tables and gas in your cars, it's time to pick up those phones and call Congress. Demand that they take action, and quote the law when you call! If you want, send then a copy of this article, and ask then to read it! It's spelled out in detail by some of our leading constitutional scholars, and after reading the articles quoted above, even someone like a Congressional Representative should know that Bush and Cheney are in violation of our Constitution, the rule of law, and The Bill of Rights!

If you don't take action and Bush and Cheney attack Iran, look forward to twelve dollar ($12.00) per gallon gasoline and food so expensive none but the wealthy will be able to afford to feed their families decent meals. The MSM has been predicting that gas prices will soar if anything disrupts our flow of foreign oil, and there's nothing like another war to make the rich richer and you and I residents of a Third World country - which is exactly where we are heading if Congress doesn't show some courage and exercise their power and rights as our Congressional Representatives, a job we've paid them to do, and if they don't, America will never recover from the disaster known as the "Bush Administration."
