ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Vice President Dick Cheney warned Monday that al-Qaida was regrouping in Pakistan’s remote border area and sought President Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s help in a stiffened push against Taliban and al-Qaida militants, officials said. 

All of a sudden al-Qaida is a concern to anyone in the Bush administration? Why is that? Maybe this explains it: 

The Bush administration is pressing Musharraf — a key Washington ally in the war on terrorism — to do more to disrupt Pakistan-based Taliban fighters and hunt down al-Qaida operatives suspected of hiding in tribal areas near the border. It has raised the possibility that Congress could cut aid to Pakistan unless tougher steps are taken.  

OK. So here it is then. The soft on terrorist bleeding heart liberal Democrats are calling for action against al-Qaida. This is funny really. Out of the left side of Cheney's mouth he criticizes Democrats by  claiming their approach to the Iraq occupation would "validate the al-Qaida strategy" and out of the right side he says those same soft on terrorism Democrats will cut aid to Pakistan if they don't step up and pull their weight in the war on terror. So which is it, dead eye Dick? Are the Dem's on your ass to get Pakistan off of theirs or are they advancing the cause of Al-Qaida? You don't get to have it both ways. I think now that the rubber stampers are out on their collective asses, the administration is finally being held accountable for their miserable foreign policy record. It is interesting though to hear Cheney calling Democrats soft at home while telling people overseas what hard asses they are. 

The only reason there would be a problem along the Afghanistan border with Pakistan is because the Cheney/Rumsfeld freedom fighters  invaded Iraq instead of finishing off the terrorists in Afghanistan. Because Cheney/Rumsfeld became distracted spreading all sorts of "goodwill" in Iraq they left the back door open and now all of the flies are coming in. Good thing we have the Democrats in power to hold our allies to the fire while we are otherwise occupied.
