Complacency is a Disease - And Americans are Dying From It!

I was reading the Smirking Chimp this morning, and one of my favorite commentators' dove-in and expressed the frustration I've been feeling for months; his words were more eloquent than mine, but it wasn't hard to sense the utter frustration his words seemed to imply - and a genuine feeling of impotency as we watch America quickly succumbing to fear, ignorance - and a massive case of complacency that has the potential to end over 208 years of Constitutional values and freedom we have all enjoyed and taken for granted.

We Have No Unity, No Unity at All

I wrote an article about a General Strike on September 11, 2007. I also went to a meeting that was called by Move-On.org this week. I tried to get people from my South Carolina Community involved in a vigil to protest the war in front of my rabid Senator’s office (Lindsay Graham). I have been told that Move-On isn’t “well respected around here South Carolina), or that the anti-war people don’t want to get involved with partisan interests. I have been told of at least four other protests that are better than a “General Strike” all of which are going to take place in the “future”.

Well I’ve got something to say to all of the people that in one way or another have different paths to save this country from a dictatorship of the right. You had better hurry and get your “plans” in order because you really don’t have much time. I’ll tell some of you this also, either you want to get rid of Bush and Cheney and end this war, or you are all just seeking the betterment of whatever group or groups that you belong to, or headlines for your own views.

I get e-mails from people that ask me who is behind this? I’ve heard that somebody named Anthony St. Martin proposed this idea, I head of it from a comment on one of my articles and thought it a pretty good idea. I don’t know who is behind it. I’m behind it, and so are all the people that commented that it’s a great idea whose time has come. How do we do it? By doing nothing, that’s how. It doesn’t take a Ph.D. To understand that staying home from work and not buying anything could make a difference. You also don’t need directions. You also don’t need someone “important” to be behind it sheeple. If the immigrants that came from Latin America can do this, I thought that the American people could do it. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Americans are too afraid.

We are in a really bad situation. We have a certified nut-case in the White House that has a “contingency Plan” for usurping power from all three branches of government if there is an “emergency”. They won’t give the “Secret” details to the congressional Oversight Committee and we are just supposed to go along with it. The President has written an Executive Order (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070717-3.html [1]) that states that anyone that interferes with the Iraq effort can have their assets seized. I guess everyone is OK with that? Apparently the “opposition” is a myth. People can’t even decide whether or not we should blame the Democrats that vote for everything Bush wants'’ because it might “fracture” the movement.

Well in my view, unless we can at least decide to participate in a General Strike on September 11, 2007. We have no “movement” What we have is many people with their own opinions that don’t want to work with anyone else. I’ll just keep on writing. That’s what I do. I try to get Americans to understand what is happening to them on a daily basis. It is the only way I know of to fight back. From here on out, I really don’t want to try to convince anyone to save this Republic. That has to come from your own conscience. You do whatever you think is best. I have never been a “joiner” mostly because it usually means dealing with people with huge ego’s that believe they are smarter than everyone else. So elect your Hillary Clinton. I will just keep on writing about how we are all getting shafted by the Corporate Cabal and when they won’t let me write anymore, I’ll know it’s time to stop.

I've been doing the same, urging people to organize - and silence has been the overwhelming response. The facts and figures I listed below indicate that right now it appears there are enough outraged Americans to make a difference, but they are still scattered amongst a thousand different political and social Internet sites - and we are no more organized today than when the so-called "Impeachment Movement" began.

We have the evidence, the number of people who are aware of this administration's crimes against America is reaching a point that may number in the tens of millions - yet we still remain essentially silent - even when facing the loss of our greatest asset, our country, our freedoms - and possibly our lives if the insanity in Washington is allowed to continue.

Your greatest assets are the truth and facts - which by now, you should have in abundance. As a nation of people, OUR greatest asset is our sheer numbers and the uproar we can cause when united in solidarity against any cause that threatens our freedom and sovereignty as a nation; make no mistake - that which binds us as a people of laws, liberty, and freedom is quickly disintegrating! We are marching, many of us unknowingly, down the path of tyranny and a brutal emerging dictatorship - yet we still fail to unite and take action... Why?

Who am I to lecture people for not uniting in solidarity to face and overcome the gravest threat The United States has ever faced? Why is Mr. Gatto writing articles that mirror some of my fears, but in reality, the message to unite is stated loud and clear. There are many more of us who recognize the imminent dangers we face and who are also pleading for "the people" to organize - yet we still remain fractured, flailing about like a beached salmon rather than organizing and taking-back our country.

Read about how many people are actually aware of our current situation - and please consider doing the obvious, organizing and standing-up for your country! After you see how many of us there are who could stand shoulder-to-shoulder in organized activities that would force Congress to take action - keep reading and see how fast the Iranian situation is escalating and how little time we may have left to unite and turn this country around! Paul Revere warned this country via a midnight ride, and the people responded and sprung into action - and "we the people" overcame tremendous odds and a Democratic Republic was born, because as always when you seek success as a unified force and believe in your cause - winning the ensuing fight(s) becomes a matter of course and demonstrates the spirit of a free and united people.

Sometimes I must sound like a broken record as I quote from RAW Story, however when it comes to fast-breaking stories, especially those the MSM refuses to print, or spin to suit their corporate masters, RAW Story and BuzzFlash are still my two favorites for a broad overview of the really important alternative news. I tend to quote from RAW Story more often, mainly because their headlines are more concise; These two alternative news outlets have served their country well, standing-in for the MSM when they have abandoned the truth too often to mention - and I heartily recommend both sites to all who are looking for a broad synopsis of the daily headlines that are of real importance to the Progressive/Liberal American, and even for Conservatives that have finally figured -out they have been partaking of the GOP's Kool-aid when they count on Faux and ABC-Disney for their news - which more often than not - isn't really news, but material that is so biased and often factually incorrect that it should be defined as propaganda rather than "news."

There is good news in a recent poll that indicates more and more people are turning to the Internet for their news - which equates to a better informed public, one of the most important ingredients in getting some real grass-roots movements established that will actually impact the political landscape. Look at some of the facts and figures:

US public sees news media as biased, inaccurate, uncaring: poll

More than half of Americans say US news organizations are politically biased, inaccurate, and don't care about the people they report on, a poll published Thursday showed.

And poll respondents who use the Internet as their main source of news -- roughly one quarter of all Americans -- were even harsher with their criticism, the poll conducted by the Pew Research Center said. (Emphasis added)

More than two-thirds of the Internet users said they felt that news organizations don't care about the people they report on; 59 percent said their reporting was inaccurate; and 64 percent they were politically biased.

More than half -- 53 percent -- of Internet users also faulted the news organizations for "failing to stand up for America". MORE

Think about that for a moment... "roughly one quarter of all Americans" cite the Internet as their main source of news! The US has approximately 300 million people, take-away children, and generous amounts of those who are simply too complacent to care, and still the amount of "informed" Americans, those who are intimately aware of the Bush/Cheney Crimes Against America may number as high as 25 million or more, and that's a lot of people - most of whom are frustrated and looking for ways to make a difference! The sheer numbers are there - we have the "base" to initiate the protests and demonstrations that would make Congress act, now all we have to do is get them organized and speaking and protesting as one - or at least close enough in ideology to help and awaken the rest of our brethren.

I'm citing the above story to demonstrate that as it stands today, at this very minute - there are probably enough informed and therefore angry Americans to actually turn the way this government is heading - but again, they need to get it together and find out how to combine their thoughts, actions, and cause into one that appeals universally to the bulk of the Progressive/Liberal base, and only then will we begin to make a difference.

Time is running out. We all have a duty to stand-up for our country and work to secure a future for our children; is there anyone out there of a Progressive mind that believes Congress will fix this mess without massive protests, call-ins, sit-ins, and any and all other legal means we have of peaceful protest and dissent? Anyone with a rational mind has already noted that Congress sold-us-out, and the only way to make them act is through a massive show of solidarity by her people. It's time, yesterday might have been too late - but we still have to try. Any while you're thinking about it, look at the latest in regard Iran - and then get off your proverbial butt and do something to help us organize those in America who still cherish their freedoms and rights.

This is our country - and it's going to take all of us who truly want the United States to return to the principles of the Constitution and Bill of Rights to actively rise-up and begin the fight to make Congress impeach Bush and Cheney - possibly staving-off World War III, and saving ourselves from a merciless dictator who only speaks for the wealthy and America's corporations. "You the people" have been spit-on and forgotten - and it's time to get mad and do something about it!

Note: The article in regard Bush's desire to start a war with Iran will follow shortly; I didn't want this piece to be too long, and if we don't get off our asses and organize - a thousand articles about Iran, Iraq, or whatever will make no difference to those who believe "it will all work out."
