PEACE Is A Political Statement?

TWO CHAPTERS BEING BANNED FROM PARADES

Chapter 139 (North Olympic Peninsula) and Chapter 016 (Washington D.C.) have both been banned from parades! In both cases, being too political was the reason cited for the ban.
WASHINGTON D.C - CHAPTER 016
On April 14, 2008 Veterans For Peace, Delwin Anderson Memorial chapter of Washington D.C. was officially accepted to join the National Memorial Day parade on May 26, 2008. On April 28 Veterans For Peace received notice that the organization did not meet the criteria to participate. This notice was sent by the American Veterans Center which is the organizer for the parade.
Please help get the word out about VFP DC's recent acceptance to and later disqualification from the National Memorial Day parade on May 26. Please share this link far and wide as well as the message below and the attachment.
It has a place for taking action and leaving comments. Go to this link now to send notice to Congress and local newspapers.
TAKE ACTION: Contact the Parade Director with the National Memorial Day Parade and CALMLY INSIST that Veterans For Peace be allowed into the parade!

NORTH OLYMPIC PENINSULA - CHAPTER 139
The North Olympic Peninsula Chapter marched in the Armed Forces Day parade last year, but this year their application was rejected by the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce.

Obama is running a "50 state strategy" except for blocking revotes he would have lost in Michigan and Florida. So let's call it a "48 state strategy" except for West Virginia, where Obama was competitive with... Edwards, who already withdrew. So let's call it a "47 state strategy" except for Kentucky where Obama is about to get crushed again. So let's call it a 46 state strategy, except...

It's weird to hear an Obama supporter talk about how many enemies Hillary Clinton has made, when thousands of nasty little suck-ups all over the internet have been spewing hate at anybody who dares to criticize their Messiah. Some of us won't forgive or forget... and a vote for the Greens has the advantage of being a vote for a party that has been right about almost everything for the last 40 years, unlike the two "major" parties that had no visible environmental program whatsoever.

Obama has a few critics who can also get down and dirty, like me, but the Edwards-Dodd-Richardson mob is very mellow, and any of those three candidates would go into the general election with fewer negatives than Obama.

If there were a wisp of intelligence floating anywhere within 5,000,000 miles of the Democratic Party, they would all be hoping for a locked convention that neither of the two damaged front-runners could win, and then the Democrats could pick a reasonable candidate instead of either of the two bloody monsters that we are stuck with now.

Thanks for this post, I found it quite interesting. President Bush and VP Cheney built a "house of cards" with their war profiteering ways and it's all fallen down. And yet the Republicans cling hard and fast to the Joker card (Bush) and won't let go. Their loss this time.

I'm thinking it's a good thing that the Democratic primary has gone on so long as well. It's much less press for McCain and that's a good thing.

This year American consumers are expected to spend an average of $138.63 each on flowers, cards and gifts for Mother’s Day, for a grand total of $15.8 billion.

That’s a whole lotta hydrangeas.

One of those is Oklahoma’s 2006 Mother of the Year, Cynde Collins-Clark, about whom I’ve written previously in connection with her son, Joe, an Iraq War veteran who returned from his tour of duty in 2004 with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Cards and flowers are nice, but $15.8 billion would go a long way toward helping veterans and their families. In lieu of flowers, perhaps a donation to a veterans group would be a more fitting bouquet to honor all the mothers who have given their most precious gift to the rest of us.

I don't know if you noticed but iconoclast posted this a little over a year ago and gas was around 2.00 a gallon. In just over a year it has doubled in some areas and yet there is still no outcry from the public. It is astonishing that people aren't rioting over this. You are right about diesel. I think this may drive a lot of independent truckers out of business. Can you imagine one fill up equal to a house payment?

You may not find much under "Gas" since most people just limit the amount they now put INTO their gas tanks. BUT, if you search under DIESEL crisis, you may get a ittle better results. I run a website that is keeping track of all the "Diesel" related stories (for truck drivers mainly) That includes news about convoy's, meetings, future "shut downs" anything at ALL that I can post to form a more perfect OUTCRY!...as with Gasoline though, there is only a fration of people standing up to speak out about the EXTREME high cost of diesel. My name is Irishman, I see what happens to all the Poor people that have to spend SOOOO much money on Diesel fuel, that they can no longer make a pay check....I'm getting ready to hit the road again, stop in and see me on www.drivers4drivers.com Whether it's gas or fuel...it's ALL too expensive...a car can cost $100 to fill now..and a "Big Truck" can cost $1,200.00 to fill up..

I'm actually hoping that Clinton and Obama mutually annihilate each other like a positron and electron colliding in a reactor, and that a deadlocked Democratic discards both of those shameless hypocrites and nominates somebody with real principles, like Chris Dodd.

On the bright side, it turns out that you and I agree about half the remaining candidates, and I have more or less the same level of agreement with the Clintonistas on MyDD, except that they are so much more polite and intelligent than the crude and stupid Obamabots on DailyKos that I write about Hillary Clinton in an entirely different way from the way I write about Obama.

Melissa sent me an e-mail, part of which is:

Disability Rights Advocates is working up a new investigation regarding the physical facilities and accessible medical equipment at VA hospitals.

Though I'm a 'Nam Vet I'm not a disabled Vet. As I sent back that info to Melissa telling her I'd search out others who would be able to give handson help to her.

Melissa is one of the Attorneys who were heavily involved in working up the Class Action Lawsuit now in Trial on the Veterans Care Issue in California that has been posted about on these boards.

I agree with you entirely, particularly about the Clinton's being money hungry. I will go one step further, if the Democrats push Barack Obama aside I will be voting for McCain. I will do this even though I disagree with most of his positions.
