I lived in Texas most of my life and I know first hand that they really don't want poor people to vote there. They had a law (still do as far as I know) that if you moved the post office could not forward your voter registration card to you. You had to physically go register again every time you moved. They know that renters move more often than home owners and they know that renters tend to rank lower in income than home owners. It amazes me that states can still get away with this kind of crap nearly 50 years after the voting rights act.
