This is a guy who claims

This is a guy who claims that he can't understand why the Iraqis aren't grateful to him. So if the Iraqis should be grateful, I guess we should be too.

I hope that Bush's statement about Gonzales wakes up some people in Amerika. Come on people, you saw Gonzales lie to the Congress repeatedly. You heard about his flagrantly illegal attempt to bypass the acting AG by going to a sick and sedated man's hospital room. Now you've seen Bush defend that same man. What does that tell you about Bush?

It's time to impeach Rice, Cheney and Bush.

This president does not

This president does not believe in the Constitution. He believes in the privileged class. He thinks he is doing us a favor by being our president and doesn't understand why we are not grateful for his sacrifice.

I agree with you eppie. I don't believe things will ever get better with this administration. There is always another fascist lined up to replace the one that left.

Great post but call me

Great post but call me cynical as well. President Bush has been trying to change the line in the sand between what is free speech and what is civil disobedience. I say keep fighting the Bush administration because we will win eventually. Let freedom ring!

Pardon my cynicism, but we

Pardon my cynicism, but we always seem to go from bad to worse in this administration (unless one really thinks that Gates, the ultimate yes man, is better than Rumsfeld).

Totally. The real crime hear though is the passivity of the American people in the face of such gross injustice.

Padilla may or may not be or have been a terrorist, but justice wasn't served. Justice was affronted.

Alexander Hamilton quotes

Alexander Hamilton quotes Blackstone in The Federalists No. 84 at 533.

“To bereave a man of life, or by violence to confiscate his estate, without accusation or trial, would be so gross and notorious an act of despotism, as must at once convey the alarm of tyranny throughout the whole nation. But confinement of the person, by secretly hurrying him to gaol, where his sufferings are unknown or forgotten; is a less public, a less striking, and therefore a more dangerous engine of arbitrary government.”

"Even though the RCMP was

"Even though the RCMP was made aware that the confession of Mr. El Maati was extracted by "extreme coercion," they insisted that it was "still accurate and continues to be true."

Something about this article makes me want to confess to stabbing Julius Caesar, or crucifying Jesus, or poisoning Pope Innocent III, or whatever! Don't hurt me, I already confessed! Co-conspirators? Every name I can think of! Hillary Clinton made me do it! Do what? Whatever you say! Whoever you say! We're all in it together! All of us! Everybody in the world!
