A soldier shares

what can happen after combat deployment

Last Tuesday, in an e-mail message sent at 12:47 a.m. with "Insomnia as usual" as its subject, Sewell opened up, perhaps more than he has in years.

Here is that message in its entirety, which Sewell said he wrote to help other men and women returning from war.

I believe over the years he became more and more disturbed, more and more anti-social. I believe he put a lot of energy in avoiding personal contact or drawing attention to his disability. And yes, for nearly two decades he learned how to navigate through the school systems without intervention.

He couldn't speak...
