Edwards, John

Edwards-health care town hall

John Edwards speaks about his health care plan at a town hall meeting in Dubuque IA. He emphasizes choice, continuity of coverage, offering competing coverage from the government and subsidizing coverage for the poor and middle class Americans. I think health care should be a top issue in the campaign and am glad to see that Edwards is putting forth a comprehensive plan. However, I think it is past time to take the private insurance companies out and begin to limit the AMA's influence over medical costs.

Final Thoughts on the Edwards Campaign

After Edwards dropped out of the race, there were many tributes and appreciations. John Nichols delivered one of the best, in the Nation:

I must warn you that this is a very personal blog for me. There is nothing I take more seriously than my position among our readers. And there is nothing I take more seriously than my loyalty to a candidate, a cause, and a movement.

John Edwards and "the language of class war"

George W. Bush is willing and eager to send other people out to fight and die in all kinds of wars, but the only war he ever volunteered to fight himself is the top-down class war that he and his friends have been waging against most of the rest of us for the last seven years.

On The Endgame, Or, Whither Goes Edwards?

As of this writing, four states have made their Democratic Presidential candidate preferences known; and for most voters the choices seem to be coming down to Obama or Clinton.

Which has not been so good for the John Edwards campaign.

While it is theoretically possible that he might yet surprise us all and garner the nomination, for the purposes of today’s discussion I’m going to assume that he won’t.

If that’s true, and the nomination is out, what might Edwards have in mind going forward?

I can’t say for certain…but that won’t keep me from guessing…which is what this discussion is all about.

How Big is your Caucus

Cross Posted from Future Majority.com

Many speculate on the democratic value of the caucus system because it requires people to be available at a specific time where in a primary you have all day long to vote. Thus the Iowa Caucus being held in the eventing and the upcoming Nevada primary being held on a Saturday.
