John Edwards appeared on Hardball on June 27th and discussed the recent Ann Coulter comments and the need to "elevate" political dialog.

Mr. Matthews, I'm not usually at a loss for words. But I am today.

I hope someone will show you this. What I have to say is irrelevant. But the comments that people may make will let you know that you, my friend, are a national disgrace.

Elizabeth Edwards called in to MSNBC's Hardball today and asked Ann Coulter to stop the personal attacks on her husband. Here is the video which includes Coulter's non-responsive answer.

I don't have much to add to the video that I link to below. Coulter's bile speaks for itself, as it always does.
On Good Morning America, the lovely and talented Dame Coulter says, "I've learned my lesson. If I have anything to say about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish that he had been killed in a terrorist attack."

When I was a young brash and otherwise an obnoxious teenager we, my friends and I would ride around in my friend Charles’s 1967 Camaro. It was the 70’s and we were out burning things that were illegal to burn even today and after the fires had gone out we were up for some local entertainment.

Update: Since posting this, I just received an email informing me that the Livingston Economic Development Council is no longer a member of the LEC, despite being listed on the LEC's website. See below for the email text.

In Michigan, the Livingston Economic Council (LEC) is going to pay Angry Ann Coulter over $30,000 to come and speak at Cleary University this fall. Wow, with that kind of cash, business must be pretty good in Livingston County.

Too bad that's far from the case.

In the wake of the Don Imus disaster, one would think that Corporate America would be highly sensitive to the promotion of hate speech, if not for morality's sake, for their profit's sake. For our sake, it's time to fight back and simply say 'No' to Ann Coulter and her hate-mongering.

Ann Coulter just doesn't get it. She is an unrepentant bigot proudly slinging her vile hatred at anyone who will give her a platform and based on her book sales there seem to be plenty of people willing to do that. From a story on CNN:

Amazon.com, which as of today continues to place ads on AnnCoulter.com, is astonishingly misreading the context of consumer/Kossack communications to the company.

Many today received what appears to be a canned response from Amazon, which is interpreting our communications as a request to remove Coulter's books from its offerings.

Your efforts and our "wins" yesterday clearly prove that grassroots activism can have a powerful impact. Very importantly, however, we owe praise and a debt of gratitude to the responsive, considerate, and customer-centric companies that quickly took action to remove their ads from Coulter's site. It must seriously suck to be a Republican right now. There is so much important work to be done. You have been busting your ass to improve conditions for the wealthiest people in America. In spite of your tireless efforts they are still saddled with an outrageous system that taxes their capitol gains and robs their estates when they die. After nearly thirty years of running massive budget deficits you still can't purge the country of creeping socialism and eliminate Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and all those food, shelter, and education subsidies to the poor.
