Reid Wilson of RealClearPolitics has posted a very complimentary story about Hillary Clinton, and her relationship with Daily Kos, on the FoxNews website. Most of the anaysis comes from Conn Carroll and his blogometer on The Hotline.
By avoiding mistakes and highlighting similarities on YearlyKos, voter verified paper receipts and other issues, Clinton "has definitely improved her standing among the netroots," Carroll said.
Reid Wilson observes that Ms. Clinton is still running behind Edwards and Obama in the straw polls on Daily Kos, but it really doesn't matter.
Clinton doesn't need to win the netroots to win the nomination. All she has to do is keep them from uniting against her.
If the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton, I'll vote for her, but without much enthusiasm, like many other posters on Diatribune and Daily Kos. Conn Carroll gets it just about right again.
Commentors on DailyKos during the debate sounded a steady chord. "The theme is, 'You know, I'm not really a Hillary supporter, but she looks really good and she does really well,'" said Carroll
I'm not sure why Fox and Murdoch are occasionally running positive stories about Hillary Clinton. It may be that they see her as a weak candidate who would lose to their Republican buddies in the general election. It may be that they can live with her attitude toward the multi-nationals, where she's a lot more friendly than Gore or Edwards.
My best guess is that Murdoch is betting on Hillary Clinton to win the general election in 2008, and he wants to be friends with the next President of the United States.
It's still a long time before the first primaries, but at this point most of the handicappers are putting the short odds on Hillary for the nomination. The general election is a lot more iffy, but you have to ask yourself, Who the heck do the Republicans have to run against her?
The 9/11 firemen hate Giuliani. McCain is a dying, pro-war dinosaur. Thompson's campaign is running on nickels and dimes. Then there's Mitt Romney...
Without entering the twilight zone of Romney's multiple "positions" on every conceivable issue, I'm betting that Hillary Clinton would beat him in the general election almost everywhere except Utah and Alabama, and even those states could flop with his next flip on the issues.
My first choice for the Democrats would be Wesley Clark, for a lot of reasons I have elaborated elsewhere, but Hillary Clinton is infinitely better than whichever ghoul the Republicans nominate to continue the Bush "legacy."
To those of you who are still hoping for Edwards or Obama, all I can say is... Get over it and go with the smart money! Nobody ever went broke betting on the same horse as Rupert Murdoch.

I DEFINITELY have real
I DEFINITELY have real reservations about Hillary Clinton, but she's definitely a ton better than any Republican contender, both announced and unannounced. Whether one likes her or not, you can't say she hasn't run an effective campaign to date, and I'd have no problem backing her in the general election.
I think any democratic
I think any democratic candidate in the current field would be a dramatic improvement over this administration and anyone the republicans can put up. The republicans have no ideas, except tax cuts for those that don't need them. Other than that they are completely void of an agenda for this country. I can't think of one thing of value that they bring to the table. I am a lot less concerned with Hillary than most of the people in the blogosphere because I think she is campaigning to win the general. I think if elected, she will govern as far to the left as the Congress allows.

Excellent point! The Christian fundamentalists are just camouflage, and "national defense" is nothing but a cash cow for the Republicans, with useless multi-billion dollar systems always preferred over anything that would save the lives of soldiers.
