An urban Representative in Oklahoma has just become a national star on the political stage. Sadly, for her of course, is the reason she is such a rising star is because she's also a rising joke.
GOP State Representative Sally Kern looks like an unassuming old lady. The typical small town woman you expect to be at home baking pies for grandchildren. But no. In secret, (at least in the past) Sally Kern, has been living her life as a homophobic, racist, teacher hating, children hating, intolerant Republican leader and wife to the pastor of the Olivet Baptist Church.

So... after listening to the audio, you know there is a lot here to deal with. Evidently terrorism is no longer a concern to the US because homosexuals are more threatening, though Muslims get a close #2 in her mind. Similarly, 2 year olds and teachers are being hit here too. Teachers evidently don't get taught stuff like colors and ABCs instead they are indoctrinated. Sally knows about this because she was once a teacher. In my experience I was not indoctrinated, but Sally might be indoctrinating her students and that's how she knows about these things.
Anyway... According to a friend who works in the state Senate in Oklahoma email traffic to the state capitol has doubled. The democratic house leader received over 10,000 emails in one night alone. There has been so much response to this that it fried the Oklahoma State Capitol servers.
It got a lot of attention when the Victory Fund sent a mass email out to its supporter list and it grew in popularity from there. It was picked up by the world famous celebrity blog and known as one of the most widely read blogs in the world PerezHilton who not only posted Sally's information but has been following the story since then. On this day the search "Sally Kern" was the number 19th google search. March 10th she was #30.
It then made a notable appearance not just on the news but by Ellen herself, who I know I adore who approaches the situation here without saying anything negative at all (God love her).

"Even with the dropoff, “Sally Kern” has been one of the most googled phrases in all of America over the past few days. For context, on March 8 she beat the following: “cindy Margolis”, “duke speedo guy” (whatever that is), “tom brady sex tape”, and “Wyoming caucus”."
He also reminds me that Sally Ker was a more popular search than the Wyoming Caucus on the day OF the Wyoming caucus.
He claims this is because people indeed want to know more about who on earth this woman is. So here's some information.

Good to know.. So lets talk about responsibility, shall we?
First, I'll agree with many bloggers who comment on this topic that when dealing with politicians their children are off limits. I would never go after someone's kid to fuel a political agenda. I think its wrong. So I won't further any allegations about her son's sexuality. If you want to know more about it you can read it here.
But, since this whole confluence of events has rose to our pop-culture information, I will tell you that poor Sally Kern is now getting attacked on many fronts. Evidently pictures of her house have been posted on the internet and a fleet of gay men from Chelsey under the cover of night are planning a secret attack to come in and decorate it.
According to Wonkette Sally is now receiving passive aggressive death threats.
""There are a lot of e-mails to the representative that say, 'You ought to die,' rather than, 'I am going to kill you,'" explains Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations spokeswoman Jessica Brown. The OSBI has been reviewing some of the nearly 7000 emails Kern received after privately telling supporters that The Gays would kill us all before the terrorists would.
Kern has also received angry phone calls from Blanche Devereaux, who wants her hair back.
And, in a depressingly predictable twist, collective rumors and innuendos on the Internets suggest that Rep. Kern has a gay son who is doubtless appalled at his mother's hair."
In response to this Sally has said that her comments were not hateful and that she is just exposing the gay agenda. "They" (I guess homosexuals) are infringing on her right to free speech.
In my opinion, the heartbreaking thing about this is that she doesn't understand that her comments were hateful. She is just that ignorant of tolerance. She is clearly an elderly throwback to a bygone era that believes what they hear on talk radio. Secondly, Sally’s main legislative accomplishment to this point is passing a bill to remove funds from libraries who have homosexually themed books on the shelves. So what she means here is that "they" are infringing on her right to free speech which they have no right to speak about.
As far as her hate toward Muslims, that has had its tole in Oklahoma. Muslims have worked hard to try and educate Americans and Oklahomans that their religion is one of peace and does not preach the American hatred or destructive actions of Bin Laden. In hopes to help Oklahoma Legislatures understand this, they were given a copy of the key religious text used by Muslims, the Quran. This is how that went.
Many religious leaders in Oklahoma have spoken out against her comments, claiming she is not speaking God's Word.
"The state of Oklahoma will not be within the United States of America a refuge of intolerance," says Emanuel Synagogue Rabbi Russell Fox."
"So today I say to Representative Kern, your speech is filled with hatred, discrimination, bigotry, and it must stop," says Rev. Edwards."
"As a state legislator, she has a responsibility to the people, and her words are inappropriate and potentially dangerous," says Cathedral of Hope Reverend Scott Jones. Quotes KSBI
That piece also includes a copy of the article that Sally cites as being the end all be all Gay Agenda. These two articles here and here are her reasons for the comments. Judge for yourself. Does this deserve more attention by the US Military than Afghanistan or Bin Laden?
And what about other Oklahoma Republicans? Are they stepping up to speak out against this hate filled speech? No... they gave her a standing ovation.
