According to this story in the LA Times the Office of Special Council is preparing an investigation into White House political operations that have been headed by Karl Rove. From the times story:
But the Office of Special Counsel is preparing to jump into one of the most sensitive and potentially explosive issues in Washington, launching a broad investigation into key elements of the White House political operations that for more than six years have been headed by chief strategist Karl Rove.
The new investigation, which will examine the firing of at least one U.S. attorney, missing White House e-mails, and White House efforts to keep presidential appointees attuned to Republican political priorities, could create a substantial new problem for the Bush White House.
Even if this turns into a whitewash instead of a real investigation it still means trouble for this White House. The last thing they need right now is more dirty laundry being aired out in public. Let's hope though that this is for real. It is time that Rove be held accountable for all of his misdeeds over the last six years.

Good, because it's not just about Gonzalez
With all the "will he, won't he" talk about Gonzalez' resignation, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that the U.S. Attorneys scandal and the unending "voter fraud conspiracy" falsehood goes well beyond the AG.
I'm glad to see that the issue is being pursued into the White House, so we can get some answers.
