I’ll vote for the person who can say that Democrats will do what Democrats are supposed to do– stand up and fight for equality for all, and mean it. That they will defend civil liberties and work to represent the interests of people who need it the most, the low wage earners and middle class. This used to be the “platform” of the Democratic Party. I hope it can be again.
The candidate of my choice will value peoples privacy. They will invest in the future of this country with strong literacy and educational programs. This person will support stem cell research to help alleviate the suffering of those already living. This candidate must value the separation of church and state. He/She must work out a fair tax system, repeal the tax cuts for the wealthy, and eliminate tax cuts for businesses that have moved to other countries that have eliminated jobs in this Country.
My candidate will separate FEMA from Homeland Security and employ some people with common sense to run these programs instead of their cronies. They will invest the tax dollars in excellent communication devices for first responders instead of war. They will secure our borders with our own troops and enforce immigration laws instead of waging war on the Middle East.
Does anybody know who that may be? Am I asking too much of a mere politician?
