The Death of Democracy

We are witnessing the end of an era.  The great American experiment in democracy is over.

It is now clear, the Military Industrial Congressional Complex has usurped the power of the people and cemented its control over our government.

MICC_MINE_400

It is a fait accompli, a done deal.  Stick a fork in her.  Our beloved country is gone forever.

We should’ve listened to Ike.

General-Eisenhower_MINE

We snoozed when we should have been marching.  We voted when we should have been screaming.  We dropped the ball, we swallowed too much bullshit, we allowed people to tell us to be patient and accept that all we’d ever be offered is the choice between two evils – the greater and the lesser.  And all the while our world has predictably grown more and more evil.

Lady-Justice_MINE

We’ve listened raptly to insincere politicians who only sought to manipulate us in the course of playing their little power games.  We’ve selflessly volunteered our money, our time, and our talents only to be promptly betrayed once the critter gets into office.  They just lie their asses off to us while doing the bidding of their corporate masters.  They scarcely even try to hide it anymore.

Rahm

The dems were going to bring a swift and certain end to the ‘culture of corruption’ (if you believed what they said anyway).  They were going to end the abomination in Iraq.  They were going to stand up to Prezident 22%.  They were going start cleaning up the bushies’ mess.

But we all can see what happened instead.  We’ve been had...for about the millionth time in a row.

They’ve now screwed us on:

Trade
Corruption
The Occupation

But watch how many people come into this thread and start with the bullshit rationalizations...AGAIN!  There are no more excuses for these cowardly bastards.  If they aren’t traitors – WTF are they?

We’ve all seen America’s considerable promise sucked out of her by the greedheads and criminals who have infiltrated our government and subverted the people’s will.  This nation is at a moment of crisis unlike any it has ever seen.  This is the moment when we will either save our country or watch it go down the drain.

It’s time to organize in opposition to the government.  It’s time for non-violent revolution.  It’s time to take it to the streets – like we did back in the day.

Not-One-More-Dead

It’s time to organize.

There’s no point in discussing abandoning the Democratic Party – they’ve abandoned us.  They’ve done nothing but screw us at every turn ever since we helped put them in power back in November.

What did you expect mister pissed off?

That they’d keep a few of their promises?
Stand up to Bush?
End the war?
Purge our government of corruption?
Listen to the people?

I guess we should’ve known better.  I mean how long have we watched this little farce play out?  How many times have they done the exact same thing – make with the happy talk, hustle us for our time, our money, and our votes only to find some weasel-ly way to sell us all down the river?

First Feingold-Reid, and now this...a blank check for the neocons’ endless war.  Ain’t democracy grand?

Let’s get it going.  Let’s get organized.  It’s time to rise up and take our country back.

And always remember...

'preciate it Doc!

I loved your diary as well. We're on the same wavelength.

It is breathtaking.

This capitulation by the Democrats.

It is breathtaking indeed!

We see where their loyalties lie...and it's NOT with the American people.

How long does a Republic last?

About the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature;
A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the worlds civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, Nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage "

Nice point. We haven't

Nice point. We haven't abandoned them. They've abandoned us.

Democrats more often stand

Democrats more often stand up for the Bill of Rights and the Constitution than do any modern Republican's.

Most of the authors of The Constitution and of the Bill of Rights, were anything but Christian. They were free thinkers, Masons, and with few exceptions non-bible toting men.

Christ would have disliked the Christians of today. "Love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek, the meek will inherit the earth" etc., have been lost in "Christian" bigotry and ethnocentricism. We have returned to the Dark Ages.

Republicans have trashed the New Testament, most of The Bill of Rights and the Constitution. While I agree that some Democrats have fallen in step, I know that, for the most part, they still believe in Democracy.

Money is the, not so covert, voice of politics. Greed and power propel people into cold, calculated trickle down economics. This round of corruption started with "The Gipper" a demented man without scholarship or intellect. His closed mind was the result of his own ego and his susceptability to the brainwashing of the far right.

GWB picked up the ball, and threw it farther to the right, and the right-wing Christian's and covert fascists fell in line.

This was not unlike the coups of Adolph Hitler and or Joseph Stalin. (right meets left) All we have to do is ask the other developed countries of the world.

We are no longer a symbol of freedom. We are a symbol of greed, destruction, and power.

In the USA, Democracy has suffered under the rule of these intellectually limited EGOMANIACS. Reagan,(clueless) Nixon, (cunning) and GWB (blithering idiot). When will the American people learn?

The current administration has set America back so far that only a miracle can bring her back. One thing is for sure, I will vote for the Democratic nominee warts and all. Republicans are now and always will be anti the middle class and the poor.
