If, in the middle of some dark night, thugs broke into your house, stole your money, raped your daughters and wife, locked you in the basement and took over your house, property - your veritable life, and you, somehow were able to break away and escape,
what would you do? Do you believe that you would want to have these criminals
hunted down and arrested, and be held accountable to the law?
My reasoned guess, would be that, yes, you would want justice to be served.
So, why is it, that there are so many Americans allowing this happen to them, every day? Why are they seemingly willing to allow the Bush Administration to invade their lives, their very souls, rob them of their material and human dignity; some of them even appearing to want some more of this cruel and inhuman treatment, as they will go down and vote for John (More of the Same) McCain. I just don't get it.
I feel as though my whole life as a citizen of this nation gone mad as a hatter, has become one nightmare; from which cannot allow myself the comfort of feeling I can wake up at any moment, and poof, the hellish scene that is America, today, will vanish in a relieving cathartic pop of this bubble, painted by Hieronymous Bosch.
When fully awake and aware, as of now, I recall the issue that Barack Obama may have to face, if he is to become the 44th President of the United States. The issue at hand, is whether to apprehend and charge the key Bush Admistration figures - starting with the
Dubya, "I am the Kommander Guy, heh, heh, heh," with treason, high crimes, felonies and misdemanors, in criminal court when they are private citizens, and can no longer hide themselves behind "Executive Privilege." Or, in a move to avoid criticism from the
Republican Right that any move to do seek just recourse, is to them - and they'll shout it out loud and clear - just a partsan, divisive and vindictive move by Democrats to get even,
just dodge the whole mess, and let them get away with these horrific crimes, scot free.
Well, if this nation is to carry on its so called experiment in Democracy supported by a constitutional foundation that supports freedom and liberty, it must have a noble purpose in mind, and I do not mean spreading our way of governing in yet another religous crusade.
It is also vital, that hypocrisy be exposed, challenged and defeated; such as, putting aside the right wing's false screamings about partsanship - remember the Clinton impeachment
solely based on oral sex and presidential prevarication, thereof - and going determinedly for the truth, starting with 911 on through to Bush's most recent admission that he approved the NAS torture tactics.
Sure, it is most desirous to stand united in moving towards a noble purpose, but first, this country must stand on the requisite notion, that we are a "Nation of laws, not men."
Going back to my opening scenario, and seeing the truth that is blatantly happening
before our eyes, do you not think, that we must set an example right here, right now,
that the Bush Regime has repeatedly raped us and stolen from us, and that these perpetrators
must now stand before the blind lady of justice, and meet their fate.
I believe the honorable choice for a possible President Obama, would be to see to it, that
these figures are held accountable to the law, so that we do in fact, underscore the very idea of a nation of LAWS, not men. I also believe, that once we have cleaned house, set good examples for future madmen toying with the idea of fascism, to lie low, "don't even think about it," and reaffirmed the LAWFUL intent in the way we progress with our unified purpose, that we will become, again, a nation that can stand hopefully wiser and more humbled in its pride, and be able to join the other nations in a much bigger world than ourselves, and get on with living truly alive, in freedom and with justice, for all.
Peace.

You well express my sentiments. Like you, what I can't imagine is why so many of my friends and other citizens are not similarly enraged. Thank you!

This is a great post on the blog and I totally agree.
Hummmm..... Wasn't it President Bush 43 that said we are going to put everybody in their own home? Look how well that turned out. And then he systematically defunded every low income housing project in place? If the State didn't pick it up it didn't happen apparently.
I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and his cronies with him!
