Waxman Agrees To Investigate Pres. Clinton For Hatch Act Violations

Can you freaking believe that yet again the most investigated Pres. in history will have to go thru this one more time ? When I read the headline all I could think is what the hell is Waxman doing ? Why is the big question right ? You won't believe the reason or maybe you will, but I didn't. File this under "what was he thinking?"

Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., will ask the National Archives for records of political presentations by the White House Office of Political Affairs under President Clinton and for legal guidance from Clinton's counsel on the briefings.

"I agree with your suggestion that historical context would be helpful to the committee," Waxman told Oversight and Government ranking member Tom Davis, R-Va., in a Sept. 10 letter.

Did you get that ? Davis , a Republican "suggested" the investigation of Clinton and Waxman agreed. This is all in relation to the investigation into the Bush White House and the scandal over those Power Point presentations Karl Rove and other were giving on Gov. property. You know the one where the White House is refusing to turn over, over 5 million emails, or even tell who was the owner of the server they are stored on. The same one hearings have already been held about and investigate in regards to another White House appointee that Bush has yet to fire, even tho the proof is known and the IG confirmed the violation of the Hatch. The DOJ has not filed any charges that I know over her crime either.

Waxman has been basicly blackmailed by the Republican to go after Bush in some false claim it will make it a more bi-partisan investigation. Waxman has to be betting that with all the hundreds of time the Republican went after Bill Clinton, they would of found something by now. It will be interesting to see if Clinton is will to release the records from his library. By Law he doesn't have to yet.

Democrats believe the White House actions may have violated the Hatch Act, which bars using federal resources for partisan politics. But committee Republicans have branded the probe a partisan exercise and argued the Clinton White House behaved no differently than the current administration.

Republicans on Tuesday welcomed Waxman's decision. "This will put [the investigation] on a more constructive and less partisan basis," said David Marin, the committee's Republican staff director. http://www.govexec.com/...

This is sure to muddy the waters, and if Clinton doesn't go along the Right will really jump on their high horse and Hannity and Rush will be in Heaven. I don't think this was a good idea but I'm not Waxman. What do you think , should Henry of done this or not ?

Oh yeah I almost forgot, no word yet if they plan on asking Kenneth Starr to testify.

My threshold of "weird" has

My threshold of "weird" has gone up by about a million degrees over the last seven years, but this is really, really weird!

Is Waxman insane? Is there any other possible explanation? Seven years of Bush-Cheney trashing the Constitution and every other inconvenient law between them and a neo-con dictatorship, and Waxman is investigating Clinton!
